Apple announced a suite of artificial intelligence features on Tuesday that will be integrated into the next versions of iOS and macOS, with a notable twist: every model runs locally on the user's device, with no data sent to external servers.
The move marks a clear philosophical departure from competitors like Google and Microsoft, which rely heavily on cloud-based AI processing. Apple executives said the approach reflects the company's longstanding commitment to user privacy.

The new features include real-time document summarization, advanced photo editing with natural language commands, and a significantly upgraded Siri that can understand multi-step requests and maintain context across conversations.
"We believe intelligence should not come at the cost of privacy," said Apple's senior vice president of software engineering during the keynote presentation.
